Amidst the glitz and glamour of the GMA Gala 2023 red carpet, Beauty Gonzalez effortlessly set herself apart with her understated and minimalist fashion sensibility.
Gracing the event, held at the grand ballroom of the Marriott Hotel in Pasay City on Saturday night, July 22, 2023, the Kapuso actress confidently wore a custom-made beige gown by the talented fashion designer Mara Chua.
While Beauty’s red-carpet look exuded simplicity, she made a striking statement with her choice of jewelry: a necklace and a pair of earrings crafted from centuries-old gold and reworked by Requiza Jewelry.
Beauty told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview, “Well, I preferred to wear something quiet… because I wanted to focus it on the appreciation of the Philippine ancestral gold that I was wearing.”
Enthralled by its captivating history, Beauty mentioned that she came across the jewelry first, and it was this remarkable piece that inspired her choice of outfit for the event.
She further said, “I wanted to make a statement talaga. I was really thinking what jewelry I would wear. But I always start from the jewelry. Then I look for the gown, kung anong bagay.”
Beauty further disclosed that the gold used in her jewelry pieces was sourced from various regions of the country and dates back at least 800 to 1000 years.
“It is a centuries-old gold neckpiece and earrings… are excavated eye and mouth covers from distant places like Butuan and Surigao.
“And yun, iniisa-isa yung kino-collect through years. And then, it was beautifully reworked. So pinaayos and beautifully reworked in a modern setting by my favorite jeweler, si Requiza Jewelry.”
