A top interior designer has shared three popular things he would never use to style a home.
Loren Kreiss, from the US, said he will never suggest a white kitchen, leather sofas or designer dupes in his projects.
The home stylist called white kitchen cupboards ‘sterile’ and leather couches ‘just plain ugly’ while slamming cheap furniture knockoffs.
Many applauded Loren’s hot takes while others strongly disagreed saying they love their white kitchen joinery and leather couches.
The first design choice on Loren’s no-go list was white kitchen cabinets for being ‘sterile, lifeless and basic’ despite their popularity.

Interior designer Loren Kreiss (pictured), from the US, has revealed the three things he would never use in a home
The first design choice on Loren’s no-go list was white kitchen cabinets for being ‘sterile, lifeless and basic’ despite their popularity
‘If I suggested them to a client they’d punch me in the face and I’d deserve it,’ he joked.
Secondly, Loren wasn’t a fan of leather couches.
‘People love them because they think they’re indestructible but they’re expensive, slippery, sticky and most of the time just plain ugly,’ he said.
‘They’re hotter than hell in the summer and colder than your ex in the winter.’
Finally Loren said dupes and knockoffs were the ‘terrible wedding cover band’ of the interior design industry.
‘Why would you want something fake that steals someone else’s idea?’ he asked.

finally Loren slammed dupes and knockoffs of designer furniture. The CH24 Wishbone chair by Hans J. Wegner (pictured) is one of the most commonly ripped off pieces
Many designer furniture items have been duped over and over again as people want rip-offs of famous expensive pieces.
The timeless CH24 Wishbone chair by Hans J. Wegner that can go for up to $1,500, for example, has been recreated countless times since it hit the market in the 1950s but very few are the real deal.
Loren said rather than buying rip offs of another design, home stylists can find original or genuine pieces suitable for any budget from places like local businesses, secondhand stores or online marketplaces.
The interior designer shared his controversial opinions in an online video that drew in thousands of watches and caused a stir among viewers.
‘White kitchens are classic, clean and fabulous. I typed that from my leather sofa,’ one woman said.
‘I have a knockoff white leather kitchen,’ another joked.
‘Dupes on furniture are just far more affordable than the actual designer version though…$500 vs $3000 is a big difference,’ a third pointed out.
Many were in strong agreeance with Loren’s grievances with one person laughing: ‘Leather sofa = the 90’s are haunting your house’.
‘I’m celebrating what you said about white kitchen cabinets. I thought I was the only one. Thank you,’ a second replied.
‘No more white cabinets! They had a great run,’ someone chimed in.
‘I totally agree with everything on your list. I own a leather sofa and I wish I didn’t!! It’s hot, sticky, scratches easily and I paid too much to get rid of it,’ a fourth said.
