Adidas has seemingly pulled a version of the new Arsenal kit for the 2023/24 season from sale amid a ‘design error’ that was spotted by fans.

The Emirates Stadium outfit announced in May that Mikel Arteta’s team would don a strip in honour of the club’s Invincibles season. But Adidas has left a host of Arsenal fans astounded after spotting a massive error with the jersey recognising their 2003/04 Premier League title.

It is 20 years since Arsene Wenger oversaw an unbeaten campaign at Highbury featuring 26 wins, 12 draws and zero defeats. So, Adidas intended to honour their huge accomplishment by including the north London natives’ record in the stitching of their latest authentic jersey.

Adidas pull the new Arsenal kit amid a design error

Arsenal and Adidas unveiled the shirt this May with their record stitched into the side of only the new £110 authentic home shirt for the 23/24 season. But the German sportswear giants made a glaring mistake after fans spotted a number of the Gunners’ results were missed off.

The stitching in the new Arsenal kit actually only featured 32 of the club’s 38 games from the 03/04 campaign. The shirt appears to be missing the final four games of the term, during which Wenger’s team pulled clear of Chelsea to lift their most recent Premier League trophy.

Arsenal ended the 03/04 season with draws against Birmingham City and Portsmouth before beating Fulham and Leicester City. While Adidas also appears to have missed off two of their wins from the Gunners’ nine-game winning streak between January 10 and March 20, 2004.

Arsenal issue a statement on their 23/24 home kit issue

Arsenal have issued a statement in response to the design error with their new Adidas home kit for the 23/24 season. According to an email as seen by The Sun, the Gunners announced:

“We’ve become aware of a design error with the current 23/24 authentic home shirt. Consequently, we’re unfortunately unable to fulfil your order at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and will be cancelling and refunding your order in full.

“We are currently reviewing when the new 23/24 authentic home shirts will be available [to buy again]. But in the meantime, please see our 23/24 replica home shirts, which are available now and ready to ship.”

On the official Arsenal club store’s website, their authentic 23/24 home shirt is now listed as ‘coming soon’ once stock is available. But fans can now only buy the standard home shirt on Adidas’ website, not the authentic one. The £55 version does not boast the 03/04 stitching.

Arsenal 23/24 away and third kit release dates

Adidas unveiled the new Arsenal 23/24 home kit on May 26 and it excited many supporters with its homage to their 03/04 Invincibles Premier League trophy. But Gunners fans are still waiting for news from the German sportswear brand for the remainder of their 23/24 shirts.

Arsenal are yet to confirm any details regarding the Gunners’ away or third kits for the 23/24 season. The north Londoners unveiled their popular away kit for the 22/23 season on July 18, 2022. While the release date of Arsenal’s 22/23 third kit came on July 29.
