REVIEW: The Wave Garden Spa in Snowdonia truly has it all

Nothing beats a good ol’ fashioned spa weekend, I will be the first to admit it. Bubbling jacuzzis around every corner, glasses of green juice (or fizz, depending on the occasion!) and an excuse to spend the day in a robe ignoring all of my responsibilities. But what if I […]

Nothing beats a good ol’ fashioned spa weekend, I will be the first to admit it. Bubbling jacuzzis around every corner, glasses of green juice (or fizz, depending on the occasion!) and an excuse to spend the day in a robe ignoring all of my responsibilities.

But what if I told you, you could have all the delights of a high-end spa, but with surfing, activities and adventure, all a stone’s throw away from the peaks of Snowdonia?

Introducing The Wave Garden Spa in Conwy Valley, North Wales, the very stylish spa with the view of a surf lagoon and mountains as you relax. Here’s what happened when my partner and I went to visit for the weekend…

The location

The Wave Garden Spa is situated in Adventure Parc Snowdonia, Noth Wales and is just 50 minutes from Chester and 90 minutes from Manchester and Liverpool. It is quite a trek from London (or in my case, Swansea!) and took us four and half hours by car. Completely worth it though and a McDonald’s breakfast always helps.

The spa is 8 miles from Llandudno Junction station and the nearest airport is either Manchester international Airport or Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Nearest airport: Manchester international Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Surrounding areas: Chester (50 minutes), Manchester and Liverpool (90 minutes)

The spa facilities

The Wave Garden Spa

The spa is easily one of the most impressive that I’ve ever visited. There is a vitality waterfall pool, steam room and iconic oversized Himalayan salt sauna, all of which have views out across the surf lagoon to the mountains and forests beyond.

Clinking a glass of prosecco in the outdoor jacuzzi with the incredible views of the surf lagoon at sunset was genuinely was too good not to Instagram.

The Wave Garden Spa

The Wave Garden Spa definitely feels like you’re getting your money’s worth as there was so many different areas, saunas and relaxing hideaways to explore.

The Wave Garden Spa has partnered with marine skincare brand, Thalgo and Tribe517, a bespoke product line made in Wales using locally sourced natural ingredients, to offer a range of innovative and luxurious face and body treatments and rituals within the spa’s five treatment rooms.

We didn’t end up experiencing the treatments due to a communication error beforehand and we couldn’t rearrange a time (they book up real fast). If you fancy a treatment during your stay, make sure you bagsy your deep tissue massage and QUICKLY.

The rooms

The Wave Garden

The Wave Garden Spa connects to Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia and we were impressed with how clean and modern the interiors were. The staff were lovely and couldn’t be more eager to help.

Our room was very, very fancy and not only had incredible views, a plush bed and all the usual amenities, but an actual bath centre stage. Oh, how the other half live!

Zephyr’s Bar & Grill is situated in the Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia and is the go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We both had a Surfer’s Burger for dinner and won’t even apologise as they looked too good and tasted even better.

The activities

Wave Garden Spa

Luckily for visitors, The Wave Garden Spa is situated in Adventure Parc Snowdonia, meaning there are lots of activities to try including paddleboarding, rock climbing and zip wire.

The stand-out for us, had to be the world-first surf lagoon, which hosts regular surfing lessons throughout the day. I’m definitely not the most adventurous person in the world (ha) but I took part in one of the surfing lessons with my partner and it was easily the highlight of the entire stay.

Spa Spa

In small groups, you are taught the basics on land and then you’re having the time of your life riding the waves. I didn’t manage to actually ‘surf’, but bodyboarding was a lot of fun and I could have stayed there all day, easy. The biggest takeaway from this review? You absolutely must book a surfing lesson if you visit.

The Wave Garden spa mini-break for two starts from £315, with half-day experiences starting from £110. For more information or to book your visit, click here,
