It’s important to arrive at antiques shows prepared. You might be used to online shopping, but this is a totally different experience. So, here are our tips for making sure you look like a pro – even if it’s your first time at a fair!
Firstly, make sure you measure before you buy. And we’re not just talking about the antique furniture that’s piqued your interest – plan ahead by measuring the areas of your home you are considering for the piece. This way, you know what will or won’t fit before you invest.
Different markets have different rules, so it’s always useful to bring cash. A lot of dealers and sellers only accept cash, as do some of the fairs themselves for entry and tickets. Using cash is also a great way to stick to a budget if you are prone to overspending!
A step many people overlook, but that is one of the most important, you really need to come prepared for how much you plan to buy. If you are looking for large furniture items, make sure you’re vehicle is big enough, or hire a van for the day. Some dealers will be able to arrange delivery for items, but it’s worth checking ahead of time.
