Want to renovate your Brooklyn home?: Sun Postings

BROOKLYN, Ohio — This is the sixth year that Brooklyn has offered its Exterior Home Maintenance Grant.
Funded by a $50,000 Cuyahoga County Council grant, with the city providing a $50,000 matching contribution, selected homeowners can receive up to $7,500 to make exterior repairs and improvements.
“This is a very popular and important program for residents who need to make exterior repairs,” City Council President Kathleen Pucci said.
“The amount is up to $7,500, and sometimes that’s just enough to get the resident maybe over the hump where they otherwise may not be able to afford it.”
Pucci said despite the city advertising the program, it may fly under the radar of some residents.
“It’s very important, though, to keep up our housing stock,” she said.
“We do have an application process, with priority given to people who may have some violations that need to be corrected.
“I would encourage everyone who’s interested to apply.”
Qualifying homes must be the owner’s primary residence and current on property and city taxes. Only single-family properties qualify.
Applications will be accepted through May 9.
For more information, residents can email the Brooklyn Building Department.
