Home Instead expands its senior care services to Maryville and surrounding counties | News
Maryville has welcomed a branch of Home Instead — an in-home care business — to the community to provide a different type of senior care. The international company provides high-quality in-home care focused on independence and comfort.
Founded in 1997, Home Instead prioritizes providing exceptional service to elders who do not want or are unable to leave their homes, but still want to live comfortably. Lynne Chandler, the office coordinator for the Maryville branch, said she believes the company provides a more tailored experience in comparison to nursing homes.
“We go in and help seniors with any activities in daily living they could need help with,” Chandler said. “Going through us, people are able to have a consistent schedule with a consistent caregiver.”
Being able to not only provide seniors with independent living but with a high quality of living can impact their overall well-being.
Maryville has a handful of nursing homes, but companies that provide a tailored experience are limited in Nodaway County. Chandler said Home Instead wants to be the outlet for people needing a personal care provider.
“We call ourselves a ‘home help company; more than a home health company,’” Chandler said. “We saw a need in the rural areas; (in) those areas, it’s really hard to find a private caregiver.”
Home Instead wants to provide a compassionate experience to all seniors. It does this through its professionally educated caregivers who are trained to handle the burdens of caregiving for aging relatives.
Home Instead makes it clear its main goal for its caregivers is “enhancing the lives of those around us.” Chandler said the caregivers are more than capable of taking care of any senior in any situation.
“We like to hire people that have experience like CNA’s, and level-one Med-Aid, but if they don’t have experience, we provide hands-on personal-care training,” Chandler said. “They learn how to do ambulation transfers, feeding, how to stand someone and training on all bodily functions.”
Providing exceptional training to hirees ensures that all clients receive a high level of care. These caregivers are one of the primary reasons Home Instead has been successful overall.
While Home Instead has provided care to Maryville in the past through its office in St. Joseph, opening up a physical office space in Maryville allows for a much more efficient contact process and turnover time. Greater Maryville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Becky Albrecht said the town is privileged to host the company here.
“We are fortunate to have Home Instead as a care option for those needing assistance,” Albrecht said. “They are professional and compassionate; it’s great to have them in the Downtown community.”
Having the backing of the Chamber is impactful for a business’s ability to gain clientele early on. The Chamber’s main focus is on community success through fostering new business relationships and enhancing overall well-being.
Building strong relationships with the people of Maryville will improve Home Instead’s overall standing in the region. Chandler said the new program is one way they are leaving their mark on the town.
“We are promoting our ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ program right now,” Chandler said. “We have a (Christmas) tree up at The Kitchen and Bath Source; you can go in and pick a senior (to sponsor) off the tree to get gifts for.”
