When leaders at Ignite Medical Resorts think of Carrie Tyson, they admire her perhaps most of all for her diligence.
During her time as Ignite’s senior vice president of therapy, she has earned three internal awards: She was named the company’s manager of the quarter in 2022, her team won the State of the Flame in 2022, and she was named Lion of the Year in 2023. Her efforts now have won her external recognition as well, that of Rising Star in the 2025 McKnight’s Women of Distinction awards.
In her role at Ignite, Tyson oversees approximately 300 full-time employees. The turnover percentage for staff in the therapy departments is roughly 30%, but metrics associated with Tyson’s performance have been impressive, Ignite Chief Operating Officer Matthew Thengil said.
“She is an extremely hard-working and trustworthy employee who has always delivered great results,” Thengil said. “She has always exceeded the cost-per-minute metric, leads the company in Medicare Part B revenue, and has educated her team on how to achieve and exceed productivity and efficiency metrics. She has always been highly respected by her peers and colleagues.”
Tyson’s achievements include planning the renovation of the company’s therapy gym at two locations in 2022. Her changes included bringing in new technology, according to her nominator, who added that Tyson has embraced technology and maximized its use for patients and their recovery.
Renovations were made for the existing therapy department with the expansions. The new equipment includes a virtual reality system for neurological rehabilitation, short wave diathermy, electrical stimulation, Omni ultrasound virtual reality, and Synchrony for the treatment of dysphagia.
“Carrie is a rising star with great potential in her new role with Ignite,” her nominator said. “She works consistently and diligently to curate the best experience for our patients and their families. She is a caregiver instinctively, and Ignite wants to recognize her compassion and impact in her community. She has certainly impacted our company, and we cherish her gift to work wholeheartedly in our therapy departments across all 24 locations.”
